Expert Panel of Healthcare Thought Leaders Holds Inaugural Summit,
Sets Upcoming Clinical Priorities for Company
San Francisco, CA (May 25, 2017) – Omada Health today announced the appointment of the company’s Clinical Advisory Board (CAB). The Board will help inform future strategic development of the company, including innovation priorities and clinical direction. The group of clinical research and healthcare leaders will utilize their diverse areas of expertise to set broad clinical direction for the country’s leading provider of digital diabetes prevention, while also focusing on long-term strategic priorities. In March, Omada brought the first CAB Summit.
“Omada’s success has been built on belief in our mission, and a fidelity to the latest research in behavioral science and preventive interventions,” said Omada CEO Sean Duffy. “The launch of our Clinical Advisory Board continues that commitment. We selected CAB members with a wide range of expertise, and I couldn’t be more excited about the ways this group will help drive forward Omada’s priorities effectively.”
Members of the Clinical Advisory Board include:
- Dariush Mozaffarian, MD, DrPH, Dean of Tufts Friedman School of Nutrition Science & Policy, and the Jean Mayer Chair and Professor of Nutrition

- Urmimala Sarkar, MD, MPH, Associate Professor of Medicine at UCSF in the Division of General Internal Medicine and a primary care physician at San Francisco General Hospital’s Richard H. Fine People's Clinic.
Building on the company’s ongoing commitment to evidence-based, effective digital health interventions, Omada will hold twice yearly summits for the Clinical Advisory Board. CAB members will also provide support to Omada’s Medical Affairs and Clinical Innovation teams, drawing from their comprehensive expertise in prevention research and clinical application.
“I am excited to work with Omada Health because of the company’s commitment to integrating cutting-edge research as they strive to improve dietary habits and prevent chronic disease,” said Dr. Dariush Mozaffarian. “Changing nutrition habits is extraordinarily complicated, and I’m delighted to help in Omada’s quest to use credible, trusted science to improve the lives of participants.”
Omada’s Clinical Advisory Board held its Inaugural Summit in March, aligning on three broad strategic initiatives to guide the group’s work in the coming months. The CAB will initially focus on:
- Evaluating additional disease states and prevention topics where Omada’s approach can be utilized to drive healthier behavior for individuals and cost savings for organizations;
- Utilizing the rise of connected devices and incorporating additional data to drive improvement of the Omada Program; and
- Exploring additional technological, product, and platform improvements to Omada’s current offerings.
Omada’s Medical Director Carolyn Jasik, MD will lead the work of the CAB. “We are fortunate to benefit from such a diverse range of expertise and incorporate the group's perspective into program enhancements across the platform," said Dr. Jasik. “Their enthusiasm for our mission has been one of the most rewarding elements of this process as well as their excitement to see their ideas come to life in our product."
